This Thursday I thought of two people at the same time who I am very thankful for… However, I will save her older sister for another week…
Dear cousin who I grew up with who people used to think was my twin,
I am so very thankful to you for a childhood full of laughter, and tears, and joy, which we were able to share so much of together. Thank you for picking me up from the gravel that time I decided to see if I would be good at driving the three-wheeler really fast with my feet. For a minute there I thought you would go all the way home without looking back and I would surely get run over and die (or just die from the shock of it all before you found me…) Also, thank you for riding horse with me, learning how to light a flint-and-striker fire with me, hauling wood, hauling hay, building tree houses, playing tag in the hay-bales, playing in the old cars, sledding, picking berries, staying up all night trying not to wake up grandma, eating (pickles - gross) with me, showing cows in four-H, baking, washing dishes, actually, is there ANYTHING we did as children that we never did together?? We’ve even been to each-other’s churches!
ANYWAY, thank you, for being you, and the part you had to play in making me, me. I miss you. Do you remember that one time we woke up super early in the morning and took a grandma’s thermos full of (hot chocolate?) something warm to drink, and (cookies?) some other snacks and went up on the hill in the horse pasture with a bunch of blankets just to watch the sunrise from outside? In the summer when the sun-rose at something like 5:00 am? That was beautiful. Just like our friendship.
Still with love,
Tammy
My friends on Tumblr: other than your siblings, who in your life has been like a brother or sister to you? Do they know you feel that way?
